The message of this act is just to bring awareness of the LGBTQ community and we know you all love an excuse to make out. But let’s keep it classy (ie. shirts on… it’s not Woody’s and keep it above the waist)

Post-Kiss-In Barbeque

Join QSA and your fellow flash mob participants for some food and time to unwind after all the “Kiss In” excitement.  There will be plenty of hot dogs and burgers at this wonderfully flaming barbeque!

-ACTION ALERT-
Pennsylvania Votes on Tuesday to BAN Same-Sex Marriage

Date: Monday, March 15th
Time: 8am-5pm

Location: Anywhere (Your Cell Phone)

Phone Banking Station: 1:00pm-3:00pm @ The LGBT Center (we do not have it reserved, so we may have to move somewhere else. If so, there will be a sign in the lobby, or email gja@sas.upenn.edu)

This Tuesday, the Pennsylvania Senate Judiciary Committee will vote on SB 707, the "marriage protection" amendment to the PA constitution.

TELL SENATOR BOSCOLA TO VOTE NO ON MAKING HATE MONGERING PART OF OUR PA CONSTITUTION!!! We have an opportunity to stop the proposed constitutional amendment to ban marriage equality in Pennsylvania. One Lehigh Valley Democrat is standing in the way, Lisa Boscola. The amendment is currently in the judiciary committee, and if Lisa votes no, it dies in committee - if she votes yes, it goes straight to the Senate floor! Lisa Boscola has supported anti-queer bills in the past, and she hasn't confirmed how she will vote this time.

Please do your part - Call her office and tell her to VOTE NO on the anti-equality Constitutional Amendment to ban same-sex marriage in Pennsylvania when it comes to a vote in the Judiciary Committee. Please call both the local offices and her office in Harrisburg:
BETHLEHEM OFFICE -- (610) 868-8667
WHITEHALL OFFICE -- (610) 266-2117
POCONO OFFICE -- (570) 420-2938
HARRISBURG OFFICE -- (717) 787-4236

There are several other senators that we need to call and thank for their support. This is an issue that can affect everyone. At our phone banking, we will have scripts (if you have never called a senator's office before) and some snacks for your work. This is very important- please get involved! Several of these legislators went to Penn. Email gja@sas.upenn.edu for more information. (Organized by Lambda Alliance's Community Engagement Committee)

Final QPenn General Body Meeting
Date: Monday, March 15
Time: 6-7pm

Location: LGBT Center

Come to our last planning meeting before QPenn, which is NEXT WEEK!!!!
We need as many people as possible to come help us proof the final
version of the supplement. So even if you're only free for part of the
hour, please come help us for a very interactive, productive final
meeting.

Wednesday March 17, 2010

Reminder: QSA will be having their GBM at 8pm, taking Lambda Alliances usual meeting time, and Lambda will be meeting beforehand at 7:30pm.

The short and sweet of it:

QSA GBM – “Mean Gays”

Date:     March 17, 2010

Time:     8:00 PM

Location: LGBT Center

Is the Penn LGBT community really as fragmented and cliquey as it’s rumored to be?  Is disunity in the LGBT social scene necessarily a bad thing? Come and discuss the current state of affairs: how the social scene has evolved, where it’s headed, and how we might improve the gay experience at Penn. Confidentiality will be key, so leave your inhibitions behind and come share your thoughts!

Wharton Alliance GBM and Discussion: 'Affirmative Action' and Controversy in Diversity Recruiting
Date: Thursday, March 18th

Time: 7:00 PM-8:30PM
Location: JMHH G92

Whether you're a regular member or a WA newbie, we highly encourage you to attend the first Wharton Alliance GBM dedicated to bringing an important topic of discussion to the community. Thursday after Spring Break, the board will facilitate discussion on the issue of "diversity recruiting" and what it means to society, the LGBT community, and companies that use it to identify and select job candidates. Is there a moral or ethical dilemma for conscientious LGBT people to consider? Why do many industries and firms believe they benefit from having a diverse workforce, and why do other industries lag behind?

All these questions and more! After the event, join the Wharton Alliance board for a rehashing of last semester's popular 'Gayming Night,' location TBA, for Twister, (Gay) Mafia, and more. Email ajfu@wharton.upenn.edu with questions.
