Dear All,

Hope you all had a fabulous Thanksgiving break and are gearing up for the last week of the semester. This week, Lambda Alliance will be hosting board elections on Thursday, December 4th, at 8:00PM at the LGBT Center. Anyone interested in running for a position or having a voice in elections, please come.  Descriptions of the board positions can be found on Lambda Alliance's website under our constitution.

In other news, Lambda Alliance has completed construction of its new website: http://www.lambdaalliance.org

The website will have weekly updates (same as the ones that are emailed out each week), as well as pictures and news items about Lambda and its constituents, and contact information for the groups.

Finally, this will be the last email that I, Matthew Feczko, Vice Chair of Communications, will be sending out to our lovely listserv. If anyone has any questions, concerns, or comments, please feel free to reply to this e-mail, and someone from the board will be in touch. Have a great week everyone!

Your Lambda Board,

Dennie Zastrow, Chair

Alec Webley, Vice Chair of Political Affairs

Baylee Feore, Vice Chair of Finance and Development

Enmanuel Martinez, Vice Chair of Internal Affairs,

Human Rights Campaign Internships Available

The Human Rights Campaign is America’s largest civil rights organization working to achieve lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equality. HRC effectively lobbies Congress, provides campaign support to fair-minded candidates and works to educate the public on a wide array of topics affecting LGBT Americans, including workplace, family, health, religious, and youth issues.  The HRC Foundation engages in extensive research and provides educational resources and programming around these issues.

Our internship program pairs interns with specific departments or programs ensuring a valuable, in-depth experience.  We treat our interns as junior staff members; an intern should expect both substantive and administrative work. Along with the duties listed in the internship descriptions, interns receive special projects that will allow them to grow and explore their interests while here at HRC.  Our internship program also includes a series of educational brownbag lunches, through which every intern will learn about all aspects of the organization.

We are currently looking to fill internships in a variety of different departments, all with many opportunities to be actively involved in the fight for LGBT equality.  The internships are PAID with a stipend of $750/month for full-time interns and $375/month for part-time interns.  Course credit is also available upon request.

Please note that the application deadline for Spring 2009 is December 1, 2008.  The deadline for Summer 2009 is April 10, 2009.  All of our internships are based out of our offices in Washington, DC.

To find out more about HRC’s internship program, learn what positions are available and to complete the internship application please visit: www.hrc.org/intern.
