Human Rights Campaign Internships Available
The Human Rights
Campaign is America’s largest civil rights organization working to achieve
lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equality. HRC effectively lobbies
Congress, provides campaign support to fair-minded candidates and works to
educate the public on a wide array of topics affecting LGBT Americans,
including workplace, family, health, religious, and youth issues. The HRC
Foundation engages in extensive research and provides educational resources and
programming around these issues.
Our internship
program pairs interns with specific departments or programs ensuring a
valuable, in-depth experience. We treat our interns as junior staff
members; an intern should expect both substantive and administrative work.
Along with the duties listed in the internship
descriptions, interns receive special projects that will allow them to grow
and explore their interests while here at HRC. Our internship program
also includes a series of educational brownbag lunches, through which every
intern will learn about all aspects of the organization.
We are currently
looking to fill internships in a variety of different departments, all with
many opportunities to be actively involved in the fight for LGBT
equality. The internships are PAID with a stipend of $750/month for
full-time interns and $375/month for part-time interns. Course credit is
also available upon request.
Please note that
the application deadline for Spring 2009 is December 1, 2008. The
deadline for Summer 2009 is April 10, 2009. All of our internships are
based out of our offices in Washington, DC.
To find out more
about HRC’s internship program, learn what positions are available and to
complete the internship application please visit: www.hrc.org/intern.
