film screening/discussion of a short, awesome experimental film entitled Blue

our last meeting left off – doing Allies-related activities and discussing the
tactics of oppositional groups such as Americans for Truth about
Homosexuality. See you Monday!

QCF Presents “Camp Out:” Dinner and Discussion
Date: Wednesday, Nov. 18
Time: 7:00 p.m.
Location: Christian Association, 118 S. 37th St.
QCF's dinner this week will feature parts of Rev. Jay's documentary "Camp Out." According to the website, this film follows 10 endearing teenagers at the first overnight Bible camp for gay Christian youths (The Naming Project). Caught in the culture war of religion, politics and the queer community, these teens refuse to turn their backs on God. The camp provides a safe haven as they struggle for truth in the unlikely marriage of their spirituality and their sexual identity. From this film, we hope to discuss some of the issues faced by young people of Christian faith coming to terms with a queer sexuality. QCF has invited members of Penn's Catholic Student Association for this special event, but as always, all are welcome to attend.
QCF General Body Meeting: Home for the Holi-gays
Date: Wednesday, Nov. 18
Time: 8:00 p.m.
Location: LGBT Center
Bringing your significant other home for a holiday meet-and-greet is always a little intimidating, but for those of us in gay relationships, it can be a little tricky. Studies have also shown that, whether in a relationship or not, an increasing number of LGBT young people decide to come out to their families over holidays like Thanksgiving. So whether you’re out to your entire family or none of them at all, come join QSA for a discussion of what it’s like to bring your “friend” home to meet the parents, and share how you negotiate your LGBT identity with your extended family. Afterward, stick around for a hot chocolate-fueled mixer with Drexel FUSE!

Federal law restricting open gays and lesbians from serving in the military.
The University of Pennsylvania will host a lecture by Lieutenant Daniel Choi on Thursday, November 19, at 5 pm in Houston Hall, Hall of Flags, followed by a unique student-led discussion. Choi will share his experiences as a gay Korean-American military officer who was dishonorably discharged for publicly coming out, and his ongoing fight for equality.
Following Choi’s speech, dinner will be served during discussions facilitated by members of two Penn student organizations, Queer People of Color and Sangam surroung homophobia in the military, homophobia in Asian Pacific American (APA) communities, interaction between APA and LGBT social justice movements, and unique issues faced by ‘double-minorities.’
