Nurses’ PUSH GBM of the Semester

Come join us for the final GBM of the semester. We will be talking about the direction of Nurses’ PUSH in the future, things you liked, as well as areas for improvement. We will also be talking about the impact of Proposition 8 on the legal powers of attorneys and hospital visitation rights and nominating a faculty member for our award. Pizza will be provided!
“Transgender
Lives: Reflections of the Transgender Community”

The panel will be a frank discussion of diverse, local transgender people
and their allies’ experiences moderated by local activist Leslie Townsend. It will be followed by an open Q&A
session. Moreover, the first Leslie
Townsend Fund recipient, Temple junior Alexandria Schneider, will be
introduced. The Fund supports local
college students who are undergoing a gender transition and in unique in the
US.
The event is free and open to the public.

Dr. Robert Carpick, Penn professor of Mechanical Engineering and Applied
Mechanics, will be there for a discussion of his experiences of being out in
the academic workplace. Refreshments will be provided!

Christian Fellowship Dinner

Guest: Beth Stroud
Enjoy great conversation over a delicious home cooked meal. Our guest, Beth
Stroud, was an ordained United Methodist pastor for six years before losing her
clergy credentials in a 2004 church trial. In the trial, which made national
headlines, Beth was found guilty of "practices declared by the United
Methodist Church to be incompatible with Christian teaching" because she
acknowledged living in a committed relationship with another woman. Please RSVP

Dating Violence in the Queer Community

Unfortunately, same-sex violence is a very real and serious issue that faces
people of all sexual orientations and gender identities. Join QSA next
Wednesday for a discussion and panel on dating violence in the queer community,
moderated by Ninah Harris, sexual and relationship violence resource
consultant.

Delaware
Valley Legacy Fund TOY Benefit 2008 Volunteering
Due By: Friday, Nov 21
Volunteers needed on December 5th
for the 2nd annual TOY Benefit, held by the Delaware Valley Legacy Fund, from
5-10pm at the Marketplace Design Center at 2400 Market. The Delaware
Valley Legacy Fund (DVLF) strives to increase philanthropy and grantmaking to
support the community needs of the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender,
intersex (LGBTI) and straight-allied communities. The benefit supports
both the DVLF and children at CHOP with HIV. Volunteers are needed for
staffing the sign-in table, collecting money and toys, and taking photos of the

J-BaGeL and Kesher Present Judaism and
Homosexuality

Come Join Kesher and J-BaGeL on
November 21st for services followed by a dinner and discussion on Judaism and
Homosexuality led by Rabbi Faith Joy Dantowitz. Services will be held at the
LGBT center at 6:00pm. Dinner and Discussion will begin around 7:30. Come for

constitutional amendments, and mingling with Goldman Sachs representatives.
